Print bed
The print bed is the platform on which the actual 3D printing process takes place. It serves as the base on which the material is layered to create a three-dimensional object. A stable and properly calibrated print bed is crucial for the adhesion of the first layer and therefore the quality of the entire print.
Print beds are made of different materials, such as glass, aluminum or special plastic blends, which offer different advantages, such as better adhesion or easier removal of the printed objects. Some print beds are heated to further improve adhesion and minimize warping of the objects during printing.
Proper calibration of the print bed is important to ensure that the first layer of the print is applied evenly. A poorly calibrated print bed can lead to warping or adhesion issues, which will ultimately affect the final print result.
