PLA
PLA is the abbreviation for polylactic acid or polylactide. This biologically degradable plastic is obtained from renewable raw materials such as corn starch or sugar beet. PLA has long been used in the manufacture of medical products. Along with ABS, the material is one of the basic substances used in 3D printing and, thanks to its easy processing characteristics, it is particularly suitable for entry-level users and private use. Because of the low melting point (160 – 190°C), polylactides have only limited application in industrial additive production.
