Digital manufacturing

General term for computer-based, tool-free production processes, such as selective laser sintering or stereolithography. In the course of increasing automation in the manufacturing process, the trend is towards modelling, simulating and analyzing all the machines, tools and materials used in the production process in order to optimize the production process. In Industry 4.0, digital manufacturing contributes significantly to reducing production time as well as increasing automation and producing customer-specific products.
