Component strength
Component strength describes the mechanical strength of a 3D-printed object, i.e. its ability to withstand tensile, compressive, bending and torsional forces. It is influenced by factors such as the material used, the printing technology and printing parameters. The choice of material and printing technology, such as FDM or SLA, as well as parameters such as filling pattern and layer thickness determine the internal structure and therefore the strength.
A solid understanding of component strength is essential for the development of reliable 3D-printed parts, especially in industries with high requirements, such as the automotive or aerospace industry.
