3D scanner
Device for measuring three-dimensional objects, in order to create data for digital 3D models, for example for additive manufacturing. Various optical systems are used in the process. One example is laser scanners, in which a laser beam scans the surface of the objects, measures distances, and determines spatial coordinates. This results in a point cloud consisting of numerous individual measurements. A CAD program then models the resulting data into a three-dimensional object. In this way, immovable objects such as buildings or sculptures can also be mapped in 3D printing and can then be printed.
