New material: PA6x for high stability requirements

At PROTIQ, 3D objects are now also being produced from the heat-resistant plastic PA6x. The white powder based on polyamide 6.13 is significantly more robust than the standard material PA2200. Its elongation at break of 30% with simultaneously increased tensile strength, allows PA6x to withstand high mechanical loads. Its melting temperature of 212 °C is 26 °C higher than standard PA2200 plastic. PA6x is thus ideally suited for the production of functional components that must withstand the corresponding heat levels. This way items made of the material can subsequently be soldered in the reflow oven.

PA6x is used for selective laser sintering. In this additive production process, the powder is applied layer by layer on the build platform of the sintering unit using a scraper or a roller. A laser melts the material at the coordinates specified by a 3D CAD file. As soon as a layer has been printed, the build platform lowers by exactly one layer of thickness and the process starts over. Since the component is supported by the surrounding powder during production, no support structures are required. PA6x enables the production of components from a wall thickness of 0.3 mm.
