Selective laser melting from PROTIQ – now in India too!

The use of additive manufacturing processes in industrial production is soaring – so it comes as no surprise that international demand for PROTIQ’s extensive expertise is growing.

Additive manufacturing is now also being used for toolmaking in India. Colleagues Neeraj Kumar Pandey and Vasudev Singh completed several days of machine training at PROTIQ in Germany back in May, and in June our employee Tobias Alf provided support while the new SLM system was put into service on site in New Delhi. The EOSint M290 features a 400 Watt fiber laser and reaches scanning speeds of up to 7 meters per second.

During their stay in Germany the Indian co-workers learned how to use a 3D production unit on a day-to-day basis. Their course covered setup and shutdown processes, software training, and a basic understanding of materials and maintenance. In New Delhi, Alf helped them apply their knowledge to the new system.

We look forward to receiving the first prototypes, components and functional models from India soon!
